Big Fig Arts and The Aloysius & Co. Picnic Van are presenting a big morning tea event to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Teas, coffee and chai will be served from the Picnic Van along with cakes and sweet treats on offer from Aum Noms. Funds raised are going to the non-profit organisation Down Syndrome NSW.

The morning will feature a potters market in the courtyard of the brewery with Studio Enki, Tamasin Pepper, Jeff Sosower, Anne Reilly, Gloria Malone and Let Go Gently Ceramics.

At 10.00am Big Fig Arts will officially open their group exhibition, ‘The Tea Party’, involving eleven local artists who have created a small painting, drawing or print with a tea pot theme. Artists showing include Jay Black, Matthew Begg, Cath Beynon, Caveman, Marg Coutts, Yolanda El khouri, Elisa Hall, Kimio Kubo, Gray Mare, Alice McCombie and Polly Wells.

The fabulous Soprano Michelle der Kinderen will be performing at 10.30am. Michelle will sing two French songs, ‘Quelle Aventure’ meaning ‘What an adventure’ by Poulenc and ‘La Habenera’ from the Opera Carmen, by Bizet.

Come along for a cup of tea, a peruse of the potters market and see the colourful collection of tea pot themed works. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and support our local community and arts.

‘The Tea Party’ event is on from 9.30 until 1.00 on Tuesday 21st March at The Bellingen Brewery & Co., up Church Street Lane in Bellingen.

The 21st of March is World Down Syndrome Day. On this day, people all around the world celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome, creating a global voice and advocating for the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome. Morning tea events ‘T4321 – tea for Trisomy 21’ will be held around Australia.
