Bellingen Shire is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, close to Coffs Harbour. It has a total area of 1,605 square kilometres with a coastline of approximately 10km.
The Pacific Highway and north coast rail line provide a strong transport infrastructure linking Sydney and Brisbane. The scenic Waterfall Way, rated number three of Australia’s top 10 most iconic drives, also offers easy access from the coast through the lush rainforest of the Great Divide to the New England region. The large regional airport at Coffs Harbour provides a gateway for international and domestic visitors to the Shire.
Through the adoption of the Employment Lands Strategy in 2013, Bellingen Council has planned for employment lands to accommodate new business opportunities in the Shire. It is also understood that there is a potential shortage of new industrial land opportunities in the regional centre of Coffs Harbour, and that Bellingen Shire may become increasingly attractive as a source of employment lands in the region.
